"THE HOBBIT" (2) THRANDUIL- (MITHRIL M234)

I've said before that December will be my "Hobbit-Month", so I start with one MITHRIL figure:
Be careful!
I will post here only Books references and you could find too some spoilers !

<<In a great hall with pillars hewn out of the living stone sat the Elvenking on a chair of carven wood. On his head was a crown of berries and red leaves, for the autumn was come again. In the spring, he wore a crown of woodland flowers. In his hand he held a carven staff of oak.>>

J.R.R.Tolkien, Bilbo the Hobbit / Bilbo le Hobbit, Chap. 9.

THRANDUIL :

"Thranduil first appears in The Hobbit as the Elvenking, when Bilbo and the Dwarves enter his realm in the northern part of  Mikwood. The Dwarves are captured by Thranduil's guards and locked in his dungeons when they refuse to divulge their intentions. The Dwarves were rescued by Bilbo, who had remained in hiding with his use of a magic Ring ....
(..... )
Thranduil was the father of Legolas, a supporting character in The Lord of the Rings...."
(Wikipedia.uk)

    1. no it's not the same character! I think that you make a confusion with DENETHOR the Steward of Gondor in LoTR, father of BOROMIR and FARAMIR!

    2. oh, how I hated Denethor, he was so evil! Loved the scene when Mithrandil throws him into fire :)

    3. evil? more mad than really evil... distress could push in the madness, Tolkien's characters are not always Black or White: even Frodo have compassion for the poor Gollum (not me!)

I'm not sure that I will paint all the figures that I've planed to do... but if it's necessary, I could have a second "Hobbit-Month"!

I'm a little anxious about the movie: I fear that he could be too much different than what I've in my imagination...
